I am busy! This week I am pressing to finish the edits of the final draft of my next book, one that will focus on U.S. participation in United Nations peacekeeping in the Middle East in the early 1980’s. I was assigned to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) in 1981-82 just prior to the 1982 invasion of southern Lebanon by Israel. I write about that and much more.

My publisher has asked that I submit my final manuscript by 1 October. So that is where I am these days and through next week.

In the meantime, I hope that if you have not purchased a copy of my current book, Desert Redleg: Artillery Warfare in the First Gulf War, I really hope you will. If you are a veteran, you will love it. If you are a reader of military history, it will fill in a portion of the history of war that has not received the emphasis it deserves. If you just want to understand what it was like to fight in the Middle East, particularly if you had a relative or friend who did, this book is for you.

Of course you can get it on all the major internet outlets, Amazon, Good Reads, or at my publisher’s website Desert Redleg – The University Press of Kentucky (kentuckypress.com). But if you go to Shop on my website, you can order a copy directly from me that I will autograph or personalize for you. It’s a bit more expensive that way, but that’s because I have to mail it to you via USPS. I have about 40 on hand now, so get your order in soon.

I wrote this book because I really wanted to write a complete story about the First Gulf War. I hope you will read it and in the process, get excited about my next book on U.S. Peacekeeping efforts in the UN. That was a wild ride also!

After I get this new manuscript submitted, I will be back to you with more updates on the currents issues we face as a nation.
